Midland fruit and vegetable markets run in the Ballato family

ANTHONY Ballato’s orchard in Pickering Brook has been in the family for three generations and long supplied fruit and vegetables to local markets.

And each Sunday he and wife Ena along with Terri Heath and her son Justin man a stall at the markets in Old Great Northern Highway, Midland.

Anthony took over the stall from the late Peter Marshall, who had been involved Midland markets for three decades.

“I start preparing on Thursday, get up about 4.30 on Sunday and get here about 5.30-6,” Anthony said.

“I’m here about 5,” Justin (17) said. “I have been coming here since I was 4.”
