Midland train station relocation and extension to Bellevue pushing ahead

THE Midland train station relocation and extension of the line to Bellevue is forging ahead, with the release of a key tender for work on the project.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the project had been on the drawing board for many years.

“We are committed to making it a reality and this tender is the first step,” she said.

“Extending the train line to Bellevue and relocating Midland station means residents from the Swan region to the Hills and beyond will have improved access to the CBD, new stadium and more.”

The work to be undertaken will include an options analysis, preliminary land use investigations, as well as planning and concept designs such as grade separations, stations and surrounding urban precincts.

Midland MLA Michelle Roberts said she was pleased the tender included Bellevue station.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the station constructed and linking with both the Midland CBD and the Workshop precinct, including the Midland Hospital,” she said.

Local businesses are encouraged to bid for the works at http://www.tenders.wa.gov.au
