Miss Diamond Australia contestant chooses Smith Family as charity

Melissa (21) has selected The Smith Family as her charity of choice to raise donations and awareness as she prepares to compete interstate next year.

Her efforts for charity will be judged as part of the Miss Diamond contest criteria and she has a $1000 target of donations to reach.

“I love how The Smith Family are helping disadvantaged Australian kids to get the most out of their education by providing learning support and mentoring programs,” Melissa said.

“Also ensuring they have the right, clean, fitting uniforms and funds to attend school, excursions and camps.

The Miss Diamond Australia pageant started in 2013 and aims to promote inclusive notions of beauty, with no height or weight restrictions for competitors.

There are also multiple categories for women of varying ages and men to compete.

“Healthwise I think that models should promote the importance of listening to your own individual needs and when considering how you should be eating and how you should look,” she said.

“Everybody is different; not every one can be six foot with the perfect bust and hips.”
