Moving match tribute to Forrestfield United footballer Marko Banjac

Bruce HuntMidland Kalamunda Reporter

Family and friends have farewelled Forrestfield United footballer Marko Banjac, who died late last month after falling from a 20m wall while holidaying in Monaco on the French Riveria.

The 27-year-old from Lesmurdie was on holidays with his older brother to visit relatives in Serbia and was making a side trip to Monaco to catch up with former university colleagues before returning to Australia.

The Forrestfield United Soccer Club paid tribute to the footballer by holding a pre-match memorial ceremony before its match against the South West Phoenix on Saturday. Players were led on to the field by a lone piper prior to the match at Hartfield Park.
