Group president Kathy Hastie said the Swan View site, which was originally a kindergarten, had equipment that was at least 10 years out of date.

‘We accept children up to five-years-old, so we needed equipment that was appropriate for the ages of the children that come here,’ she said.

‘We spent the last two years selling chocolates, holding sausage sizzles and running raffles to raise some money.’

Ms Hastie said if the group had not been successful in securing $15,000 through a Lotterywest grant, mums and staff would still be fundraising into the next decade.

The group of more than 100 enrolled children, also received a Shire of Mundaring matching grant of $1815 towards the sand soft fall that surrounds the play structure.

The equipment was installed this month.

The group will celebrate the installation of the new equipment with a grand opening and open day on Wednesday, July 17.
