The unsealed paddock on Victoria Street is exempt from the usual $2 parking fee after the State Government did a u-turn on charging for parking on unsealed land.
Paid parking will not be introduced in areas where informal parking has been used previously, which will come as a relief to commuters already forking out for higher train fares.
The so-called ‘paddock parking’ has escaped fees across Perth, with commuters in Claremont scoring a win and an extra $2 in their pockets daily after local MP and Premier Colin Barnett raised the issue on behalf of the local council.
