The local family day care service is one of thousands of providers in Family Day Care Australia’s national network that contributed hand prints, with the collective goal of eclipsing the 30,006 benchmark set in 2007 by the UK Scout Association.

The family day care service took part in the world record attempt during the inaugural National Family Day Care Week held as part of Family Day Care Australia’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

This year’s theme, ‘Every Child is a Star’, celebrated National Family Day Care Week across Australia until May 12.

Family Day Care Australia CEO Carla Northam said the national community event was also about recognising and celebrating the benefits of family day care.

‘Whether they are a keen soccer player, a gifted artist or simply have the gift of the gab ” every child is a star,’ Mrs Northam said.

‘This unique community event will recognise family day care’s nurturing early childhood setting and how it encourages, develops and celebrates a child’s own individual star qualities.’

Family day care is a homebased early childhood education and care service for children from six weeks through to school age.
