Thus began the Variety WA Bash, which today is a well-known vehicle for raising the much-needed funds.

Registrations are now open for the 25th anniversary of the drive and Variety WA is calling out for car enthusiasts to start revving their engines for this year’s Bash.

Kicking off from Exmouth on August 25, the Bash will visit Onslow, Carnarvon, Geraldton, Jurien Bay and many mystery stops, before finishing in Perth on August 31.

In addition to enjoying the beautiful surrounds of WA, the Bashers will present much needed grants to help WA kids.

Each new team must commit to raising an $8,000 minimum donation to Variety WA, in addition to paying for its own personal event expenses such as fuel and accommodation.

You would need a car that is 25 years old (or older), a fun theme with costumes for your crew and car, a big sense of adventure and, most importantly, an even bigger heart to fundraise for WA kids in need.

In 2013, Variety Bashers will support three core programs ” Variety Caring for Kids, Variety Future Kids and Variety Freedom. These programs allow Variety WA to deliver a range of equipment and experiences to support the specific needs of individual children such as nebulisers, electric beds, communication devices, tricycles and wheelchairs, as well as larger grants to schools and other children’s organisations.
