Quick-thinking neighbour douses fire danger

Rob Wilson called Fire and Emergency Services after he heard his fleeing female neighbour on the roof outside his bedroom window after 11pm.

“Flames were coming out the back door; just flying out, covering the whole back yard,” he said of the fire at the Housing Authority unit in Cooper Street.

“I guarantee the whole lot would have gone up.

“I could see it happening; that’s why I had to ring the firies back. ‘You got to get here now’ because the fire was feeding through to my place.
