Sale of waterfront lots a concern

Sally McGlew, Midland ReporterMidland Kalamunda Reporter

Pindan Homes is selling sites at Rivers Edge in South Guildford, yet Council only called for submissions and invited comments from residents on the structure plan on March 28.

Council is due to consider the applications on May 28 and June 18 but advertisements have already appeared on television about the lots at Rivers Edge, along with a sales office at the site on the vacant land.

On the internet the ads under Pindan Homes show the house and land packages as selling.

‘Rivers Edge offers a stunning range of 3 bed/2 bath homes, plus a limited release of exclusive waterfront lots,’ the adverts said.

It stated the South Guildford address was available on request.

The ad went on to say: ‘With nothing like Rivers Edge in or around the area, the opportunity to purchase a low- maintenance and affordable new river-front home, or one of the rare premium waterfront lots, so close to key amenities, provides an exciting opportunity for owner-occupiers and savvy investors alike.’

It said Stage One was being released ‘this Saturday, with a choice of House and Land packages available’.

Rivers Edge is being developed by Otan Property Funds Management and built by Switch Homes.

West Australian Consumer Protection Commissioner Anne Driscoll said buyers looking to purchase proposed strata lots should check they are buying from the current owner by checking the certificate of title.
