Sarah BrookesMidland Kalamunda Reporter

THERE’S a salsa vibe in the Hills with classes now running from the St Barnabas Church Hall in Kalamunda.

Juan Rando Dance Academy instructor John Broertjes said beginner and intermediate classes were available.

“We have a small but dedicated following of students who are really enjoying classes and performing at the Kalamunda night markets,” he said.

“Salsa has some much energy and passion and brings people together in a fun and welcoming environment.

“The health and mental benefits to Salsa are huge, it is a great cardio workout, it keeps your mind active and sharp.

“It also aligns with the principles of Act, Think, Belong which are so important for mental health.”

Former student turned teacher Vee Andersson became hooked on the style 12 years ago.

“When I moved to the Hills I missed the dancing vibe and was eventually coaxed into starting classes here,” she said.

“In the future I hope to have social dance nights.”

Salsa in the Hills runs on Thursday evenings. For information call John on 0400206095.
