THE granddaughter of WA’s youngest ever premier celebrated her 80th birthday at Scaddan House in Guildford on January 5.

Cara Scaddan, along with her three daughters, six grandchildren and other relatives met with current homeowners Kirsty Champion and Brett Holmes to celebrate the milestone.

Daughter Fiona Cox said the house at 38 East Street Guildford was the backdrop for a very special celebration.

“Scaddan House, as it has become known in recent years, was named after John Scaddan who was owned and lived at the property just prior to becoming the youngest WA Premier in history,” she said.

“The last Scaddan birthday celebrated at the property was Mr Scaddan’s oldest child, Thomas Scaddan (mum’s father), who was born there in 1908, 110 years ago.”

After the family photos were taken and an impromptu tour of the beautifully renovated house, Cara gave Kirsty and Brett a memento triptych of the Mr Scaddan from her personal collection of family photos as a thank you.
