Simon Cherriman ‘bird man’ launches first photography exhibition close to home

PARKERVILLE’S Bird Man Simon Cherriman will unveil more than 70 images in an exhibition of his work at The Sound Temple in Sawyers Valley.

The collection Kingdom in the Clouds opens tonight with awe-inspiring images of the Noongar seasons and Wedge-tailed Eagles.

Cherriman’s passion for wildlife and landscape feature strongly in his inaugural photography exhibition.

The Sound Temple’s Janis Johnston said the Hills-born ornithologist and environmental biologist was a vibrant educator and filmmaker.

Some of the images captured form part of his PhD research into the breeding habits of Wedge-tailed Eagles in Western Australia.

Cherriman uses satellite tracking to study their movements and habitat.
