Slam a hero of police chase and arrests

Police saw a Ford Mondeo driving erratically on Reid Highway heading east from Beechboro Road about 10pm.

They tried to stop the vehicle on Lord Street in Brabham, but police will allege the driver failed to stop.

On Roe Highway, near the Great Eastern Highway bypass, a tyre blew out and the vehicle caught fire.

Polair 62 identified four people running into bushland and directed officers to arrest two of them.

PD Slam and his handler were directed by Polair to where the third person was hiding, and he was detained by PD Slam by the thigh.

PD Slam’s handler continued to search for the fourth person, who was found in thick scrub. Police allege the person attempted to resist arrest by kicking PD Slam in the head, but failed to loosen the dog’s grip.

A 22-year-old Forrestfield man was charged with breaching bail, no authority to drive and failing to stop and reckless driving.

A 22-year-old woman from Gosnells was charged with breaching bail and possessing a prohibited drug. A 24-year-old man from Midvale was charged with obstructing public officers.
