ASK Midland comedian Cameron McLaren what he loves about his suburb and it’s all the fast food joints you can drive through and the community spirit.
“There’s a pride in Midland that you don’t find in other places,” he said.
“I’m not sure why, but there is this instant bond when you meet someone else from 6056 out in the real world; like, ‘hey yeah, I shop at Midland Gate too’.”

“Remember when our Maccas had a plane? Fancy,” he said.
“Applecross is supposedly a rich area but their Maccas didn’t have an airport.
“Midland just had everything you’d need.
“As a kid I’d spend weekends at Swan Aquatic, the old Ace cinemas, the classy Jimmy Deans or the Traino.”
McLaren said while Midland was metamorphosing, it still retained its infamous charm.
“Midland has everything you need and it’s only growing,” he said.
“New hospital, new medical school and two Hungry Jacks.
“Why would you wanna be anywhere else?”
