RACING car driver Dale Wood popped in to see the kids at Spring Road Community Kindergarten after the kindy won a competition to win much-needed new flooring.

President Kristel Clark said the $25,000 worth of flooring from Polyflor was a saviour for the kindy.

“Spring Road has been operating from its site on Spring Road for 27 years,” she said.

“We are the only community kindergarten in the metro area that owns their own building and while we are blessed to own our own building because it gives us security, the security comes at a cost.

“We have to pay for rates, insurances and maintenance that other community kindergartens do not have to worry about, making our operating costs quite substantial.

“We receive an operational grant from the Department of Education each year but we still need to fundraise around $10,000 a year to try cover expenses.

“This is a huge task for 16 families.”

Mrs Clark said it was a treat for the youngsters to meet Wood.

“Dale Wood is sponsored by Polyflor and Mark Shenton, WA state sales manager of Polyflor, thought it would be a treat for the kids if Dale came to the kindy and met the kids,” she said.

“The kids were extremely excited and had a great morning with Dale and spoke to the kids about race car driving.”
