WINNING a Swan Valley Rotary Club scholarship made it possible for a St John of God Midland dietician to attend a national conference in Sydney.

Rebecca Leubner received the stroke scholarship and attended the annual Smart Stroke Conference this month to develop the level of care given within stroke units.

St John of God Midland Public Hospital chief executive Michael Hogan said the scholarship advanced professional development of caregivers working within the area of stroke.

“Rebecca is highly deserving of the award as she is a dynamic and passionate member of the team who delivers the nutrition program for our stroke patients,” he said

“She is always seeking opportunities to improve the care of our patients and goes above and beyond to deliver this care.”

Ms Leubner said the conference would provide a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest advances in medicine and dietetics to help better assist those living with the effects of stroke.

“I hope to gain information from this conference to help support the whole team,” she said.

“Throughout my career I have sought to build my knowledge and skills so I can better support my patients and to satisfy my own passion for professional and self-development.”

Following the conference, Ms Leubner will present her findings to hospital caregivers and the Swan Valley Rotary Club.
