St John of God Midland hosts special day, Just Because

ST John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals have inaugurated a day of mirth and merriment with Just Because Day.

The August 25 day included lots of silly hats, chocolate, performances and pride in opening the new hospitals.

Chief executive Glen Power said with the ‘winter peak’ of occupancy in full swing, the event was held to thank staff for their hard work.

“With the hospital having 80 per cent of beds filled that evening, the event demonstrated how well staff work together to provide high quality patient care,” he said.

Performances by the Gum Not Stompers kept ward staff and patients entertained with their acoustic melodies. Departments across the hospital celebrated in a variety of ways, including dress-ups, hats, raffles, cakes and a chocolate fountain.

Dr Power said he looked forward to the day being a perpetual celebration at the hospital for this busy time of the year.

“It was fabulous to see the entire hospital community embrace the day with creativity and fun,” he said.
