Swan mayor attack: Man who struck David Lucas with microphone sentenced to supervision order

THE man who attacked Swan Mayor David Lucas has escaped a fine and jail time at sentencing in Midland Magistrates Court today.

Magistrate Stephen Sharratt issued Warren Jeater with a 12-month intensive supervision order for the June 18 attack, which left the mayor with a cut above the eye.

Jeater (67) pleaded guilty last month to striking Cr Lucas with a microphone at the end of a City of Swan special electors meeting at Midland Town Hall.

He also pleaded guilty last month to breaking Cr Lucas’ glasses. Mr Sharratt ordered he pay for the damage.

The supervision order will involve Jeater contacting a community corrections officer.
