NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2019 Telstra Business Awards, the program that celebrates and recognises WA’s leading businesses and helps to propel them to greater heights.

Telstra is encouraging small and medium businesses, as well as not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises, to make 2019 the year they put their business in the spotlight by participating in the awards program.

Figures show that 2018 was a record-breaking year for the number of nominations in Telstra’s Awards program, however, there was a dip in self-nominations compared to 2017.

Telstra Business Awards Ambassador Michael Ackland said business owners should back themselves and take a step forward by nominating for this year’s awards.

“A successful business owner is a special breed with unique characteristics,” he said.

“They’re hungry. They’re creative. They’re bold. But at times, they’re also unsure.

“Having no one to answer to can be liberating, but it can also foster as much self-doubt as it can confidence.

“Applying for the Telstra Business Awards is a great way to put your business to the test and prove to yourself that you’re better than you think you are.”

Now in its 27th year, the Awards program is designed to help business people analyse, evaluate and improve their operations, and thrive in the future.

As part of nominating, every entrant will receive a Personalised In-Depth Business Report with professional insights, advice and guidance to help improve the future of their business. Research shows that half of the businesses that read their report said they would make changes as a result.

Kristen McPhail, co-founder and Director of Pachamama, a Perth childcare business and 2018 Telstra Australian Small & Succeeding Award winner, said winning the Award was like a dream come true.

“The outstanding calibre and high recognition of the Telstra Business Awards proved that Pachamama has high business standards and credibility,” she said.

“Since winning, we’ve seen our bookings increase dramatically.

“Winning this iconic award is indescribable, and the process of nominating and entering is enlightening in itself. It’s well worth the effort.
