Insidious ice

YOUR editorial headlined “Circuit of ice addiction must be broken” is on the money.

No parent can involuntarily rehabilitate their child as Senator Jacqui Lambie said.

Without early intervention, the State’s mental health services and ER departments will be overrun with young people addicted to the nations most insidious drug.

There is a waiting list for in-community therapy and people are not selected on a first-come basis, more so if they are considered ready for rehab (because places are so limited).

More rehab is needed not less, more research is needed not less – success rates are low and most need rehab more than once.
