Not taking it sitting down

Two slightly-soiled recliners were spotted at a previously-seatless bus shelter along Great Northern Highway in Midland.

Community Newspaper Group recently showed another example of the emerging bring-your-own chair trend along Lord Street in Dayton.

It is highly likely the chair-dumping culprits are dodging a trip to the tip, but in doing so they have highlighted the fact that many bus stops in the Swan region are inadequate.

Many are just a post in the ground, while others are without seating.

In encouraging more of the population in the outer suburbs to use the limited public transport available to them, perhaps better infrastructure is needed.

Bus-users are often elderly and anything to make their transport more comfortable should be seriously considered.

As the City of Swan encourages more walkable neighbourhoods and introduces paid parking, what better time than now to start the upgrades?
