Call for increased cyclist safety after damning comment by gold medal cyclist

A twice-gold medallist recently stated he would not ride a road bike because he would not feel safe.

That’s quite an indictment.

We all know that some cyclists and motorists don’t play the game, but that’s no reason to put cyclists at risk.

All that is required really is to place a blank line one metre from the kerb for cyclists to use with some safety, and to do this as soon as possible.

If some think just in mercenary terms and question the expense of doing that, they should consider the cost of the continuous care for cyclists made paraplegics or quadriplegics in road accidents.
