PREMIER Colin Barnett says a re-elected Liberal government will invest $4.5 million over three years on new lights at sporting facilities.

Mr Barnett said the lighting would take three years to install and upgrade in the state’s community centres.

“Most sports grounds and their associated clubs can access this if they need the funding,” he said.

“The new commitment expands on a program started when the Liberal government took office in 2008 and promised to light sports clubs and grounds then.”

Mr Barnett made the promise at the Mundaring Recreation Ground on Mundaring Weir Road, which does have lighting at the moment but which Mr Barnett said needed to be stronger.
