MIDLAND-Guildford batswoman Elyse Villani took out the coveted Karen Read Medal for 2015-16 at last week’s awards night.

Former Australian cricketer Karen Read presented the medal for the best player in the WACA Female A-Grade and T20 competitions, voted on a 3-2-1 basis per game.

Villani won with 18 votes, two votes ahead of Melville’s Jenny Wallace and Subiaco Floreat’s Nicole Bolton.

The Southern Stars batswoman, who recently competed at the ICC Women’s World T20, scored an impressive 420 50-over runs, 200 runs not out and 271 T20 runs throughout the season.

Villani also won the A Grade 50-over Batting Aggregate and Champion Player awards to cap off a successful night.

Four of the 12 named in the Female Team of the Year also were Midland-Guildford players Villani, Chloe Piparo, Sheldyn Cooper and Mel Holmes.
