Football: Cougars licking wounds after unsuccessful North Beach away trip

Brad WoodgateMidland Kalamunda Reporter

ALL five Kalamunda Cougars teams travelled to North Beach on Saturday, but unfortunately could only come away with one win.

That came from the D2 league team, who ran all over its opponent on the way to handing out a 110-point thumping.

Ben Bowness was again dominant through the middle, with Matt Benson kicking nine goals to be best on the ground.

The D2 reserves were blown away by a team needing to win to make finals.

Despite Matt van Herk winning best-on honours and Nathan Carbone also doing a great job down back, North Beach just had too much talent.

The colts were dismantled early and lost by 14 goals, with Gus Saastamoinen and Vaughn Thompson both playing well.

The long-awaited return of Alex Minson was not enough to help the reserves, who went down by 10 goals; Michael Kosovich and Kyle Ajduk were amongst the best.

The league competed well all day against a strong opponent, but lost by 15 points. Michael Brescacin and Matthew Outridge were best on ground for Kalamunda.
