Football: Kalamunda Cougars A grade win three in a row

KALAMUNDA Cougars A grade league team won its third game in a row and moved to within two games of the top five, with a four-goal win over Kelmscott.

Dylan Burgess was great for the Cougars with Adam Pottinger’s brother Trent also good.

The reserves smashed Kelmscott in their game and won by 157 points, with Harley Szczepanik good and Kevin “I don’t look like Screech” Cox playing great.

An inaccurate colts team lost a heartbreaker by two points after the siren, 7.10 (52) to 6.14 (50). Ryan Newbold was best on, with Angus Saastamoinen also in the votes.

At home on Saturday, the D2 teams did battle with Kingsley and came away with two good wins.

The thirds won a hard fought contest by 13 points, with Tyrone Clark and Daniel Henderson the two best for the second week running.

The fourths again started poorly but following a Paul Miller halftime spray, kicked six straight in the third quarter to eventually win 15.13 (103) to 3.5 (23). Simon Bycroft showed his class with Steve Cameron kicking five to be best on ground.
