FORRESTFIELD United moved into the quarter-finals of the NPL WA Night Series after a 2-1 win against Armadale at Dalmatinac Park last Thursday.

Ben Rogers opened the scoring on 54 minutes, before Michael Rizidis levelled for The Reds on the hour.

But a stunning strike from Callum Dobbs won it eight minutes later.

Head coach Rod Banjac said it was a pleasing performance but they still have things to work on.

“It was good to win the game, but we are not getting carried away – we are still in pre-season, and it showed at times,” Banjac said.

“But the Forrie spirit was on full show last night with the players matching a good Armadale side and a stunning strike from Dobbs and a great team goal finished off by Rogers gave us the win.

“It was pleasing to see some of the younger players get opportunites in the win and gives us depth for the NPL.”

Banjac said they will hit training this week looking to improve certain aspects of their game.

“The coaches and I saw a few things we need to work on as we prepare for the quarter finals,” he said.

Banjac said he was pleased the ‘Forrie Army’ were in full voice at the game.

“Our supporters are the best and it was fantastic to see a large number at the game and the players responded,” he said.

“We are still building for the new season, and are enjoying pitting our wits against the best teams in the league, but like I said these games are good but we are fully focused for February 23 when we meet Floreat Athena in our first ever NPL WA game.”

The draw for the quarter-finals will be made this week.
