Guildford and Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club swimmers scoop up dozens of medals in junior championships

GUILDFORD and Kalamunda Districts Swimming Club took home two dozen medals from the State Junior Swimming Championships for the 12 and under age groups last month.

The club won five gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals during the September 22 and 23 competition at HBF Stadium.

Overall the club won five gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals – including a club relay team who won bronze.

Lucas Nayler won two gold medals and one silver, while Charlie Spencer won a gold, four silver and one bronze.

Liam Park won one gold, two silver and two bronze, and Carys D’Addario was the club’s fifth gold medal winner.

Emma Pittman won silver and two bronze, James Park received three bronze, Cayleigh Davis received two bronze and Megan Schwinkowski won a bronze medal as well.

There was also a bronze medal for the 11 to 12-year-old mixed relay team, which included Thabiso Bayiwa, Davis, Spencer Phillips and D’Addario.

“After some trying times with one of our junior training centres being closed for renovations during this winter, it was great to see the whole squad rewarded with personal best performances over the weekend,” head coach Brett Tongue said.

There were 27 swimmers from the club that had gained qualification under the guidance of coaches

The club trains out of pools at Darling Range Sports College and Guildford Grammar School.
