The award recognises clubs that have demonstrated strong governance practices, membership growth, program engagement and opportunities for members to develop the sport.

The club has a volunteer committee of 12 parents and a team of coaches lead by Brett Tongue, who are all committed to building a strong club for swimmers of all ages and capabilities.

Over the past season, it has introduced a learn to swim program “DR Swim” which runs out of Darling Range Sports College and is for swimmers aged four to 12, as well as a masters club for swimmers aged 18 and over.

Membership growth for the past season has been strong for the club, which also trains at Guildford Grammar.

Three members were also nominated for the volunteer of the year award – Jennine Mann, Caron Bennier and Trevor Verran.
