SOUTH Perth secured an outright victory over Midland Guildford on Saturday with a dominant all-round performance at Richardson Park.
Starting the day at 4-184 with the first-innings win already secured, Robert Jones continued exactly where he left off from day 1.
After Alex Bevilaqua was dismissed at 5-191, Jones and Brandon Guest blasted a further 109 runs during their sixth-wicket partnership.
At 5-299, South Perth decided that was enough of a lead to go for the outright win and declared, as Jones ended the innings unbeaten with a masterful knock of 117 from 142 deliveries, which included nine fours and four sixes.
As Midland Guildford came to the crease attempting to avoid outright defeat, South Perth found another gear, with Chris Chellew and Simon Ringrose taking the first five wickets as the visitors slumped to 5-21.
A modest 43-run eighth-wicket partnership between Jack Baker and Charlie Cassell looked to breathe some life into Midland Guildford.
However, it was not to be, as South Perth rifled through the last three wickets, bowling out Midland Guildford for 100 and securing the outright win as Ringrose and Chellew ended the innings with three wickets each.
