MIDLAND-Guildford captain Stewart Walters couldn’t celebrate his 200th appearance in style after going down to Claremont-Nedlands in the WACA Premier Cricket Competition on Sunday.
The Swans defeated Willetton by six wickets at Lilac Hill on Saturday, but were emphatically beaten by the Tigers at Cresswell Park on Sunday in Walters’ milestone match.
The 32-year-old skipper was out in the middle for the winning runs against Willetton, as the Swans chased down 5-189.
English opener Dom Sibley anchored the innings with 73 and was well supported by Bevan Bennell who hit three sixes on his way to 39.
Bennell was also impressive with the ball taking 1-17 from seven overs.
On Sunday, Midland-Guildford could only manage 159, after Walters top scored with 32.
The bowlers toiled hard but couldn’t make any breakthroughs as the Tigers successfully passed the total with the loss of only four wickets in the 33rd over.
The Swans host South Perth at Lilac Hill next Saturday from 11:40am in the first round of two-day fixtures.
