THE WAFL has confirmed upcoming WAFL games to be played in Cunderdin and Carnarvon.
Perth will play Peel Thunder at Cunderdin Oval on July 23 and South Fremantle in Carnarvon on August 6.
The Cunderdin game will be the second WAFL fixture played in the Wheatbelt town 150km east of Perth after the first in 2004 when Perth defeated Subiaco.
It is also the second WAFL fixture for Carnarvon. West Perth beat South there in 2007.
WAFL general manager Steve Hargrave said the WAFL was committed to regional games and thanked the State Government for its support.
“With their support, we can provide a great opportunity for regional fans to see a WAFL game in their own backyard,” he said.
“Footy is the life blood of many country communities and the WAFL is committed to continuing its support of country football to ensure it remains vibrant and healthy for many years to come.
“It is also a great opportunity for our WAFL clubs to continue connecting with their regions. Country WA has a proud history of developing some of the game’s top talent and we must keep engaging with these communities.”
Overall, 69 WAFL games have been played in country WA since 1984.
