A BUTLER resident is helping people preserve memories by making cushions and teddies from clothing.

Margot Vearing said her home business, Memory Cushions Perth, brought comfort and joy to people.

When a colleague’s brother died in late 2016, leaving behind a wife and two young children, Mrs Vearing offered to make them memory cushions from three of his shirts.

“My initial motivation was to help others with the grieving process, but what I didn’t realise was how much it would affect me providing this service,” she said.

The business has since grown and Mrs Vearing now offers two sizes of memory bears, toy bean bags and shirt cushions with the collar still attached.

“Initially designs were fairly basic but as customers contacted me asking for different items and variations, I took on the challenge,” she said.

“(I) love creating such unique items for people – graduation bears, leavers cushions.

“I have even made cushions from old car seat covers which were very cool.”
