Store manager Milan Nedeljkovic said the team was excited to open the supermarket and celebrate with the community.

“We’re a team of locals serving locals, and we encourage everyone to come down for a chat to get to know us, and to see our new store,” he said.

“We’ve received very positive feedback from the community during construction, so I am thrilled to be able to show them the final result next Sunday.”

It will be the second supermarket to open in Alkimos and provide more than 60 jobs.

Acting state general manager Pat Zanetti said the supermarket chain was delighted to expand to the growing north coast community.

Mr Nedeljkovic said the store would boost in employment for the area as well as giving customers a good shopping experience.

“With over 60 new team members and 40 internal transfers, we’re confident our diverse team will provide the community with an exceptional shopping experience,” he said.

“I am thrilled to have been able to hire so many new team members who live in the area, and nothing beats a quick drive to work.”

The store will have a fresh produce area with fresh fruit and vegetables displayed on ice, an open-style butchery and a bakery with a range of artisan breads, cakes and pastries.

Open seven days a week, it will also feature a continental delicatessen with an olive bar and a scoop-and-weigh station with a wide range of seeds, nuts, grains and dried fruits.

Coles will officially open the doors to its Alkimos store on February 25 about 11am with speeches and cake and ribbon cutting ceremony.

The yellow and purple Wiggles will be at the front of the store from 3pm to 5pm.
