A RESTAURANT based in Singapore has opened its first Australian venue in Clarkson.

Burns Beach couple Jeanie Tan and Joe Oh opened a Hungrywich’s sandwich shop in Ocean Keys Shopping Centre in August.

Their menu includes sandwiches, muffins and biscuits baked and prepared in store, as well as coffees.

Mr Oh said they had lived here for a year-and-a-half and had seen an opportunity to expand their business to Perth.

“We wanted to bring something that’s Singaporean here. We wanted to introduce healthy food that people could eat every day. It’s tasty Singaporean flavours with as healthy as possible pairings,” he said.

Mr Oh said his favourite was the roast beef sandwich and they offered brown rice as an alternative to bread. The couple opened the first Hungrywich’s restaurant in Singapore in 2010.
