Karen Arnold and Jo Preston partnered up recently to start L’s Belles Driving Academy, with an emphasis on “keeping it simple” for learner drivers.

Ms Arnold said, like choosing a good school to send children to, choosing a driving school could be overwhelming and somewhat confusing.

“Learning to drive is primarily about believing in yourself,” she said.

“Relating to the students and their unique personalities is the key.

“(Our lessons are) taught in a real world environment, taking it slow and only moving on to the next step once we see the student is ready and therefore confident.

“Although passing their driving test is the student’s main goal, and where we part ways, our goal is to ensure that each of our students leave every lesson feeling a little more confident, both in themselves and the skills they are learning.

“It is important that new drivers are prepared for any situation, learning how to read the road, other drivers and the flow, recognise any potential danger, and if faced with one, being confident to react in the safest possible way.”

Originally from Zimbabwe, the pair have raised eight children between them and started L’s Belles Driving Academy lessons in early October.
