OVERLOOKING Waterfront Park and the Alkimos ship wreck, a beach cafe recently opened in the north coast suburb.
George Bartell opened the Shore Cafe in January, offering house-roasted coffee and a seasonal menu using fresh produce.
Mr Bartell said he had been blown away by positive reviews from customers on the cafe’s Facebook page.
“The opening weekend was really busy and we can’t thank Shorehaven residents enough for their support,” he said.
“We’ve had patrons from as far away as Hillarys come to try the food and plenty of others who have asked to meet the chef.
“You don’t get a better compliment than that and I couldn’t have hoped for anything better.”
No stranger to the food industry, Mr Bartell started the mobile coffee van franchise Cappuccino Xpress in 1999, which grew to be the second biggest coffee franchise in the country.
He also started his own coffee company, Dantes Coffee, sourcing and roasting premium arabica coffee beans and providing barista training, before undertaking the management of Eliza’s cafe in West Perth.
Menu items include all-day breakfasts, homemade tacos, buffalo wings, Asian spiced beef ribs, and the chef’s take on surf ‘n’ turf, with crispy pork belly and soft shell crab.
The Shore Cafe is open daily for breakfast and lunch 7am-3.30pm, and on Wednesdays to Sundays from 5pm for dinner.
