Staff WriterNorth Coast Times

THE owner of CY O’Connor Village Pub in Piara Waters and Albany’s Hybla Tavern will operate another beachfront cafe in a $5 million foreshore development in Eglinton.

Perth hospitality mogul John Dawkins from Tillbrook Melaleuka Group has been announced as operator of the cafe and bar currently under construction at Stockland’s Amberton Beach estate foreshore precinct.

Mr Dawkins will continue the theme of coastal hospitality at the venue perched 16m above sea level overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The dining spot is being built alongside a stairway to the beach and a newly-opened, fully-fenced playground and soon-to-be-constructed 1.5ha recreational space.

Mr Dawkins said he jumped at the chance to secure the location because dune-top sites with ocean views would become increasingly difficult to acquire.

“The view is going to be a massive drawcard for those enjoying the area,” he said.

“We are still deciding on the official name of the venue, but I can confirm we will be continuing our renowned beef and lamb paddock-to-plate dishes, as well as interesting seafood and beverage options.”

Once open next summer, the venue will cater to 200 people and sell coffee, meals, a full-service bar and the ability to host functions with indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Welcoming Mr Dawkins and his team, Stockland regional manager Damian Shephard said the foreshore precinct had been “highly-anticipated”.

“Being built directly atop the sand dunes, this venue is the first of its kind in the area and with the pristine beach below and nearby park and car parking, this will be a major attraction for residents and visitors,” he said.

The developer will host a workshop with interior design experts on Saturday, February 9, teaching residents how to style their homes to celebrate the launch of Stockland’s Home Sweeter Home campaign.

Guests will be treated to a range of insider tips while enjoying an afternoon of light refreshments and getting to know their neighbours from 2.30pm at the sales and information centre on the corner of Cinnabar Drive and Leeward Drive .
