Success is ‘a matter of motivation’

Daniel Lombardo was the guest speaker at Wanneroo Business Association's monthly networking event, held at Sun City Country Club on May 20 for about 30 people.

Dr Lombardo said he had been at the bottom of his class aged 13 when his grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, which prompted him to turn his life around.

"I remember thinking to myself " what could I do to help my grandmother?�,� he said.

"For the first time in my life I had a purpose."

Having pushed himself academically since 2001 and recently completing his PhD in medicinal chemistry, Dr Lombardo said few people set themselves goals.

"The people that don't follow through with them, they don't have a strong enough �why" " my �why" was to become a medical chemist to help my nonna out,� he said.

Dr Lombardo said once people identified their purpose, they had to work out what they needed to do to achieve it and find time to do so.

At the breakfast, the City of Wanneroo's Eleanor Dix said the Yanchep Community Centre's business and community resource lounge was running free workshops for small businesses.

She said The June 9 session on bookkeeping and tax essentials had been booked, and the next workshop, about turning a hobby into a business, will be on July 9.

The next WBA breakfast will feature Satterley Property group's Nigel Satterely as guest speaker at Bridgeleigh Reception Centre, Wanneroo on June 17.

There will also be a coffee catch-up on June 3 at Big Brew in Wangara from 10am to 11am.
