Women’s comic book club starts in Clarkson

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

A COMIC book club for women launched in Clarkson this month.

Jayde Shaw-Trenouth founded the club with support from owners of the Collector Zone! Comics and Collectables, Sue and Chris Topfer.

“I got the idea after visiting a comic book store in Melbourne and they were kind enough to invite me to their women’s comic book club but unfortunately because I live in Perth that wasn’t really an option,” she said.

“Coming back and finding such a great comic store like Collector Zone! I approached them to see if it would be something they were interested in helping me set up and they couldn’t have been more helpful.

“I think it’s really important for women to be able to appreciate enjoying things that traditionally haven’t been ‘for us’ in a welcoming and fun environment.

“If I can meet a few ladies who enjoy the same things I do and we get a great night once a month talking about comic books then I’ll be happy with how the club goes.”
