Price plays Vittorio Vidal, an ageing Italian film star.

“His relationship with his jealous girlfriend Ursula is a somewhat emotional one,” he said.

“Vittorio’s entanglement with the title character Charity Valentine is more of an accident when he inadvertently uses her to get back at his girlfriend who storms out on him causing a scene.

“In their conversations, Charity helps Vittorio to believe in love again and he and Ursula are reunited with passions renewed.”

Director David Nelson said he had always loved Sweet Charity.

“The show is set in the 1960s when there were big changes happening in society and I like the fact this musical represents that,” he said.
