WORKS by Quinns Rocks sculptor Lesley Whitham feature in a Fremantle exhibition this month.

The display presents work by artists showing exclusively with the Margaret River Gallery and covering a range of mediums, including paintings, ceramics, photography and jewellery.

Whitham will showcase a selection of sculptures, which she said were often inspired by Neolithic and Minoan pieces she had seen on trips to Greece and Malta.

“I don’t often set out to convey a particular idea,” she said.

“I like to let the image develop in a creative way and my ideas about the piece evolve as I work.

“Hopefully the artworks can stand on their own without much explanation and the viewer can enjoy applying their own interpretations to my work.

“Having said that, recurring themes of migration, the cycle of life and the passing of time seem to often find their way into my drawings, paintings and sculptures.”

The exhibition is at Kidogo Arthouse in Fremantle until November 23.
