The exercise sessions, delivered by an exercise physiologist, are each capped at $8 for seniors and aim to reduce the risk of falls and improve the health and fitness of people over 50.

Long-term program participant Bob Zeigler said the program could be an effective anti-depressant, while preventing cognitive decline and decreasing arthritic inflammation.

‘The connections you make in the program lead to friendships that stay with you for life,’ he said.

‘The sessions are about building strength, but are also fun and social places to be.’

Residents can attend the afternoon launch next Monday, with light refreshments provided.
