Alkimos academic challenge is a sweet treat

Staff WriterNorth Coast Times

ALKIMOS Beach Primary, St James’ Anglican and Northshore Christian Grammar schools held their second annual Northern Bright Stars Academic Challenge recently, which included building a marshmallow tower.

Nine Year 5 and 6 students from each school took part, chosen on their academic ability, problem solving ability and collaborative skills.

Activities included world mapping, general knowledge, acronyms, collective nouns, quizzles, persuasive advertising role play and an engineering (STEM) marshmallow tower task, which was all the students’ favourite.
