NORTHERN Corridor Developments has received approval to clear 9.53ha of land west of Marmion Avenue to extend the Trinity estate in Alkimos.

The Department of Environmental Regulation recently granted the clearing permit, which will be valid for two years from October 21.

According to the permit, the site opposite Santorini Promenade includes Carnaby’s black cockatoo foraging habitat.

It said to offset the loss of 157ha of foraging habitat across the whole Trinity development, the applicant gave the former Department of Environmental Conservation $614,111 in 2010 to buy 459ha of foraging habitat in Gingin and 477ha in Badgingarra.
