AN Alkimos developer has applied for a clearing permit to expand its development west of Marmion Avenue.

Trinity at Alkimos landowner Northern Corridor Developments has applied to clear 24.79ha of land west of its existing estate to facilitate earthworks for residential subdivision.

Road connections within the development could improve access for existing residents between the coastal Alkimos Beach development and shops, schools and homes in Trinity.

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has invited public comment on the clearing permit application, with a decision to be made on September 16.

Clearing is proposed in the area shaded above.

The area to be covered extends from Leatherback Boulevard on the northern edge to the boundary with Eden Beach estate in Jindalee to the south.

Residents have often called for developers to connect roads in Alkimos Beach to Marmion Avenue and Santorini Promenade, including Hawksbill Drive, to improve access.
