Alkimos library to pop up over road

Justin BianchiniNorth Coast Times

ALKIMOS Pop Up Library is on the move to a bigger home – across the road.

The library will close from June 22 and reopen on July 15 in the Gateway Shopping Precinct, opposite the facility’s current space on Turnstone Street.

During the closure people can still use the nearby Clarkson and Yanchep-Two Rocks Library.

The larger new venue will enable workshops, programs, seminars and meetings to be held.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the library move was an exciting change for a suburb that had nearly doubled its population in the past two years.

“The new pop up library and community space will continue to provide popular services, with more than 1000 books available for loan, as well as access to all of the City of Wanneroo collection online, free Wi-Fi and community notices,” she said.

“There is a very strong community feel in Alkimos and the library offers a sense of place to residents.”
