All quiet on the warehouse front

City of Wanneroo planning and sustainability director Len Kosova said there was no evidence the Rebels Motorcycle Club was still using a unit at 19 Caloundra Road, a sentiment echoed by the district police chief Charlie Carver.

Last December, the council decided not to grant retrospective planning approval for the club use, and Mr Kosova said the applicant had not lodged an appeal with the State Administrative Tribunal.

‘Following the council’s decision, compliance officers have been in contact with one of the complainants who reported the use of the premises to the City and they have advised that they have not seen any evidence of ongoing club activity,’ he said.

‘Compliance officers have also attended the property following council’s decision, but have not conducted any follow-up inspection, as there is no evidence that the club is still using the premises.

‘As such, no further follow-up action will be taken by the City unless the need to do so arises.’

Superintendent Carver said police had no evidence of activity occurring at the premises, and there had been a decrease in crime in the area. ‘They have gone extremely quiet,’ he said.

‘There’s no evidence of any activity as yet, but we’re still looking into it.’
