ARTIST Janey Emery, of Clarkson, received the people’s choice nod in the City of Wanneroo’s 2016 Community Art Awards and Exhibition.

The people’s choice award resulted from public votes by those attending the exhibition over the past month, with a $600 prize.

Emery’s painting ‘A Quiet Path’ was inspired by the karri forest near Boranup, and also took out the judges’ choice for the best City of Wanneroo resident entry on opening night.

Judges said the realistic artwork demonstrated a great use of colour, and the perspective created depth and the illusion of being in a forest.

Overall, the City gave out $16,800 in prizes in the 15th year of the awards.
